In pursuit of its mission, the John Paul II Foundation collaborates with a plurality of entities, including very different ones. Partnerships with institutions, territorial entities, companies and private supporters, as well as collaboration with other Third Sector entities, always have as a common goal the well-being of the beneficiaries of our projects, whether they are the guests of the reception centers in Italy or the young working women in Iraq. These collaborations are based on shared values and are also realized through synergies and mechanisms of mutual exchange, generating value for all parties involved and for the communities in which they are embedded.
In Italy, the Foundation's connection with the local area is deep and varied, highlighting an ongoing commitment to the promotion of active community participation, in synergy with entities that share our values and goals.
PARTICIPATE
QOELET
Social Enterprise born from the relationship between the two partners: The John Paul II Foundation and The Fraternity of the Visitation of Pian di Scò. Qoelet is dedicated to the reception and integration in the territory of individuals and families in conditions of social and economic vulnerability. The goal is to accompany people to complete autonomy, starting from vocational training to work experience.
STRATEGIC PARTNERS
National Research Center
CNR is a public research organization and one of the strategic members of the Foundation's partnership network for agricultural development projects in Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon. It has been a partner in AICS-funded supply chain projects related to cherry, apricot, aloe vera and date production. CNR provides valuable input in researching innovative technical solutions for field production. CNR is decisive both in the agroecological analysis of soils, verifying the status of soils and natural resources, and in the application of state-of-the-art agricultural techniques for the sustainable use of resources. It is involved in developing highly resilient socioecological models in the field that contribute to the definition and planning of the Quality management System (the quality control system in agricultural production).
Meyer University Hospital Company
Meyer Hospital began its collaboration with the John Paul II Foundation in Palestine in Bethlehem Governorate by participating as scientific coordinator in the strategy to support the health of deaf children. Meyer Hospital is a national and international center of excellence in pediatric health care and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hearing disabilities. The Meyer welcomes and treats children from states involved in armed conflicts, as well as young patients suffering from diseases that cannot be treated in their countries of origin, and intervenes in critical settings through professional training of local staff. The Foundation and Meyer Hospital also collaborate in Jordan by coordinating the scientific network of services by supporting the establishment of first- and second-level screening to ensure early diagnosis and treatment for all children with hearing disabilities.
Municipality of Terranuova Bracciolini
The John Paul II Foundation collaborates with the Municipality of Terranuova Bracciolini (AR) to promote social inclusion and access to services by foreign people in the area. The project involves the activation of a dedicated information desk, with the support of a cultural mediator, to provide guidance in health, schooling, employment and housing, thus strengthening territorial cohesion and local integration.
Municipality of Bergamo
As part of the decentralized cooperation program, which promotes networking between local authorities from Italy and developing countries, the Foundation has partnered with the City of Bergamo as part of the AICS-funded project "Jericho Vale! Supporting Inclusive and Sustainable Territorial Enhancement for the Agribusiness Sector." The initiative, in which the Municipality is the lead partner, involves strengthening the territorial institutional system for the promotion of economic inclusion and enhancement of the territory of Jericho governorate and improvement of the local territorial governance system.
Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno
The Foundation has initiated a collaboration with the Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno (AR) within the framework of the development and implementation of decentralized cooperation initiatives involving Italian local authorities and local authorities from developing countries. The collaboration relates to the AICS-funded project "Bethlehem Green City, toward a model of environmental sustainability," which aims to make the municipal solid waste management system in the West Bank more efficient through separate waste collection (separate collection system at source) and urban circular economy actions.
Studio IN
Studio In collaborates in the processes of planning and conducting activities in the area of updating and training on the issues of innovative teaching and pedagogy to foster school, social, and community participation and inclusion of children with disabilities. Studio In is composed of pedagogists highly specialized on educational methodologies for children, with a focus on disability and highly vulnerable contexts.
GVC-WeWorld
GVC-WeWorld is an independent Italian organization active in 25 countries with Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid projects to guarantee the rights of the most vulnerable communities starting with women, girls and children. With the John Paul II Foundation, it runs a European Union-funded rural development project in Lebanon targeting the people of the Bekaa Valley and northern Lebanon. GVC and the Foundation are involved in upgrading production and post-harvest management of agribusiness and medicinal plants.
Federazione Trentina della Cooperazione
The FTC has signed a strategic agreement with the John Paul II Foundation and works in the field of agricultural development projects. The FTC, building on its international experience in cooperativism, has made an innovative contribution with its experts for technical assistance, study and research activities directed toward the implementation of cooperative governance models for the joint management of services functional to a more robust economic development and sustainable positioning of the fruit supply chain. The FTC, recognized by the OECD as a virtuous model for services offered to rural cooperatives, is working with exchange of best practices to support Middle Eastern agro-fruit supply chains.
R.O.A.C.O.
The Riunione delle Opere di Aiuto alle Chiese Orientali is a committee under the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, a Vatican dicastery. The goal of the R.O.A.C.O. is to coordinate the initiatives to support the Eastern Churches of its 29 member organizations (from 10 countries), and to update them on the challenges and situation of the Eastern Churches. The John Paul II Foundation participates in the annual Plenary Assembly and is in contact with other organizations to refine its strategy in favor of Eastern Catholic minorities.
Caritas Diocesana of Fiesole
Caritas Diocesana di Fiesole is the pastoral body of the diocese that deals with the promotion of charity, solidarity and assistance toward the most fragile and people in difficulty. Through projects, services and initiatives, it works in the territory to support those living in situations of material or spiritual poverty, in line with the values of the Gospel and the teaching of the Church.
Migrantes Foundation
The Migrantes Foundation is the body established by the Italian Bishops' Conference to accompany and support the particular Churches in the knowledge, work of evangelization and pastoral care of migrants, Italians and foreigners, to promote in Christian communities attitudes and works of fraternal welcome towards them, to stimulate in civil society the understanding and appreciation of their identity in a climate of peaceful coexistence, with attention to the protection of the rights of the migrant person and family and the promotion of responsible citizenship of migrants.
Our Father Center
Founded in 1991 by Blessed Don Pino Puglisi, the Padre Nostro Reception Center works in the field of human promotion, prevention and treatment of social distress and marginalization, in the different manifestations in which the same can find expression. It works, through multiple activities, to ensure the dissemination and promotion of the message of Father Pino Puglisi, parish priest of the Brancaccio neighborhood, killed by the Mafia in 1993, who turned his attention to the recovery of minors already recruited by Mafia criminality, reaffirming in the neighborhood a new culture of legality.
Fraternity of the Visitation
The Fraternity of the Visitation was established with the aim of providing a welcoming place for everyone. Especially for those who are facing a difficult period in their lives, in conditions of loneliness, poverty , abandonment and social marginalization. The home began in an old rectory to create a welcoming space without boundaries. The design behind this is simple: to welcome the needs of the person, any person, with an open door, with arms wide open, certain that each person, from the guest to the volunteer, to the young person looking for a way forward, always and surely has something to put at everyone's disposal. The Fraternity intends to pursue its goals through activities of welcoming people in poverty and social marginalization, and activities of social and cultural formation and human promotion for young people through volunteer work.
Family Point Villa Pettini
The Villa Pettini Family Point Association works on behalf of families. It pursues civic, solidaristic and socially useful purposes, basing its action on the Evangelical Message and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The association carries out voluntary activities and social solidarity purposes free of charge in favor of third parties with particular attention to families, without profit and with full respect for the freedom and dignity of its members, through actions that can be disbursed continuously, actively and directly and aimed at the prevention and removal of situations of need. Cultural initiatives, social interventions, reception of migrants, protection of rights are some of the activities carried out by the association.
INSTITUTIONAL LENDERS
Italian Agency for Development Cooperation
AICS is the public agency dealing with the promotion of international development, public aid and humanitarian emergencies, endowed with legal personality and regulatory, administrative, patrimonial, organizational, accounting and financial autonomy. Like all public agencies, it is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), through the Directorate General (DG) for Development Cooperation, whose directives, objectives and guidelines it must comply with.
European Commission
The Development DG is a directorate general of the EC. Its mission is to make effective the EC's external aid instruments, which are financed by the EC budget and the European Regional Development Fund. It reports to the European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. It is the EC directorate general responsible for implementing external aid programs and projects around the world. Its goal is to maximize the value and impact of aid by delivering it in a rapid and accountable manner. The DG works under the auspices of the Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy.
Florence Savings Bank Foundation
Fondazione CR Firenze is a nonprofit institution that pursues social interest through a careful program of investments and projects relating to the territory of Florence and the Metropolitan City, the provinces of Grosseto and Arezzo. The Fondazione CR Firenze, like all other foundations of banking origin, is subject to the control and supervision of the Ministry of the Treasury, which verifies its compliance with the law and statutes, sound and prudent management, the profitability of its assets, and the effective protection of the interests contemplated in its statutes.
Migrantes Foundation
The Migrantes Foundation is the pastoral body of the Italian Bishops' Conference established to accompany and support the particular Churches in the knowledge, work of evangelization and pastoral care of migrants, Italians and foreigners, to promote in Christian communities attitudes and works of fraternal welcome towards them, to stimulate in civil society the understanding and appreciation of their identity in a climate of peaceful coexistence, with attention to the protection of the rights of the migrant person and family and the promotion of responsible citizenship of migrants.
Prefectures of Florence and Arezzo
The Prefecture is a peripheral body of the Ministry of the Interior and the seat of government representation in each province. In the area of reference, the Prefecture carries out a propulsive, policy-making, social mediation and intervention, advisory and collaborative action, including with respect to local authorities, on various issues. One of the areas of interest is immigration, through the territory-wide management of the reception of political asylum seekers within Extraordinary Reception Centers.
Italian Episcopal Conference
CEI is the permanent assembly of Italian bishops. The Service for Charitable Interventions in Favor of the Third World is the CEI office in charge of financially supporting solidarity initiatives and development projects in developing countries. Particular attention is paid by the CEI to consolidating and strengthening the Catholic Church's charitable works in distressed territories.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany
The German Foreign Ministry uses foreign organizations to develop agribusiness projects. In particular, it has involved the John Paul II Foundation for a project in Lebanon coordinated by the German NGO Welthungerhilfe.
Tuscany Region
The Tuscany Region supports projects aimed at fostering social inclusion and support for migrants. In collaboration with the Foundation, it has financed the opening of desks in the Valdarno for employment guidance, psychological and housing support, legal assistance and cultural mediation. These include "The Villa Pettini table," aimed at the integration of people in a condition of socio-economic fragility through personalized training and accompaniment paths.
Caritas Diocesana of Fiesole
Caritas Diocesana di Fiesole is the pastoral body of the diocese that deals with the promotion of charity, solidarity and assistance toward the most fragile and people in difficulty. Through projects, services and initiatives, it works in the territory to support those living in situations of material or spiritual poverty, in line with the values of the Gospel and the teaching of the Church.
Bank of Italy
In addition to carrying out its institutional tasks, the Bank of Italy finances various projects of environmental and social relevance. In terms of collaboration with the Foundation, it has financially supported a project in Casentino to strengthen relational networks in favor of families in distressed conditions through employment guidance and legal information desks.
Unicoop Florence
Unicoop Firenze is one of the leading retail companies active in Tuscany and thanks to its network of members and volunteers is also active in social projects. With the Foundation, it has financed the development of two agribusiness projects by providing funds and making its distribution chain available.
