PRESS RELEASE: Escalation of violence in Jerusalem, John Paul II Foundation calls for immediate "ceasefire" and dialogue
Florence 12/05/2021: The escalation of violence in Jerusalem is of great concern; the clashes in the Holy City in recent days are far from the peace process that the Foundation has always called for.
We call on the parties involved to refrain from any violent action; loss of life is not acceptable. We will never stop believing in the possibility of peaceful coexistence of all people living in Jerusalem and the Middle East.
"Let Jerusalem be a place of encounter and not of confrontation," the Holy Father stressed, adding that it should be "a place of prayer and peace" because it is precisely from peace, we believe, that man's soul can be renewed.
