Leaving for Lebanon 24 europallets of electromedical equipment
From the John Paul II Foundation to the people of Lebanon,
long supported with health interventions
Departing from Pratica di Mare airport are 24 europallets of electro-medical and sanitary equipment. Destination: Beirut. The precious cargo, will be distributed to Lebanese hospitals and medical laboratories through the Beirut Vicariate of the Latins with the collaboration of the Italian Contingent stationed in Lebanon.
Part of the material is also destined for Syrian health facilities, particularly the Italian hospital in Damascus.
This is the gift that Esaote, one of the world leaders in medical diagnostic systems (specifically, ultrasound, dedicated MRI, and Medical IT systems) with headquarters in Genoa and Florence, has made to the John Paul II Foundation, which is based in Tuscany.
The diagnostic and medical tools are largely earmarked for one of the third sector organization's international programs engaged in cooperation, shelter and support projects in Italy and abroad. For some time the John Paul II Foundation, has been supporting Lebanon in facing an economic and health crisis from which it is difficult to rise again: by sending medicines and medical supplies - in collaboration with the Focolare Movement - as well as other development projects, it provides constant support to the Land of the Cedars, enabling treatment and the continuation of often life-saving therapies.
Thanks to the support of Savino Del Bene, an Italian multinational company specializing in shipping and logistics, the medical equipment was kept in its own warehouse located in the port of Livorno. Here they remained waiting for the political situation in Lebanon to allow their safe shipment.
They will be shipped from Italy thanks to a key agreement with the Ministry of Defense, which has provided transportation and logistics: the material will leave by special flight of the 14th Air Force Wing and on March 17, in agreement with Lebanese diplomatic, military and government authorities, it will be delivered in an official ceremony.
The John Paul II Foundation will be represented by its legal representative in Lebanon Monsignor Cèsar Essayan and project leader for Lebanon Stefano Baldini.
