Bread and Wine is born: the first social canteen in the Valdarno region

Throughout Italy more and more people and families are in need. In Tuscany alone, where our Foundation is based, between 20 and 25 thousand people live in poverty, numbers that unfortunately seem destined to worsen because of the serious health and economic crisis we are experiencing.

For this reason, together with the Fraternity of the Visitation and the social enterprise Qoelet, we decided to create Pane e Vino, the first social canteen in the Valdarno (between Arezzo and Florence), a place to meet and eat together, a space for inclusion and sharing, but with a great little something: not only will you be able to eat, but you will be able to give a meal to those in need.

At our soup kitchen there will always be a place at the table for people in need, but also for neighborhood residents, the elderly and lonely people who want to eat in company, because "man does not live by bread alone," and loneliness can also make one poor. The people who will be able to take advantage of the free meals will be monitored and referred by the social services of the municipalities of San Giovanni Valdarno and Montevarchi, with whom we are working on this project, with the goal one day of creating a Bread and Wine network throughout the territory.

Bread and Wine Bread and Wine

To accomplish our goal we need a kitchen worthy of the name. With the funds raised we will be able to train kitchen staff and purchase everything necessary to prepare the meals that will be served at Bread and Wine! Ours will be a professional kitchen, ready to feed 100 people a day, equipped with efficient tools and equipment-an ambitious project to guarantee the right to live a dignified life for our closest brothers and sisters.

Thank you for all you can do for them.

P.s. Your donation is worth double! Upon reaching half of the set goal, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze will double the amount raised-a unique opportunity!
