Spesa Solidale in Pratovecchio Stia

Coop Alto Casentino and John Paul II Foundation together for the "Solidarity Shopping" project.

The initiative, named "Spesa solidale," was activated by the Alto Casentino Coop with the organizational support of the John Paul II Foundation to encourage the purchase of basic necessities. The project represents a form of support for socio-economic situations of poverty and unemployment identified in collaboration with the municipality, parish Caritas and parishes to which a special request was sent to indicate the cases most in need of help.

"Spesa solidale" will find concretization in the delivery of shopping vouchers of 10 euros to be used in the two Coop supermarkets in Pratovecchio and Stia for food and basic necessities for daily life, with the explicit exclusion of certain kinds such as alcohol or cosmetic products. This initiative confirms the social commitment and attention to the territory of Coop Alto Casentino, which over the years has been a promoter of numerous solidarity initiatives together with many local entities. In this case, the project has relied on the John Paul II Foundation of Pratovecchio, which since 2007 has been committed to fostering dialogue and cooperation between peoples, cultures and religions of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and which has provided its availability for the delivery of the vouchers, for maintaining relations with institutions and parishes and for the evaluation of individual requests.
