Pilgrim of Peace: writings of Br. Ibrahim Faltas

On Saturday, June 8, at the Bishop's Seminary in Fiesole, we had the honor of presenting the book "Pilgrim of Peace" by Father Ibrahim Faltas. This book collects the Franciscan's writings published in the journal Colloquia Mediterranea of the John Paul II Foundation, as well as a selection of his emails sent to friends over the years.

A Journey Between Italy and the Middle East

Through the pages of this book, Father Faltas shares accounts of his many trips to Italy and the Middle East, offering profound reflections not only on the foundation's projects, but also on the reality of the people and lands among the most beautiful and troubled in the world. Indeed, these regions constantly face ongoing situations of war and hardship, and Father Faltas' words give voice to these experiences with a tone of hope and faith.

A Vision on Historical Complexity

The pages of the book offer insight into the historical complexities of the Middle East, as seen through the eyes of an Egyptian-born Franciscan who has always lived in the Land of the Three Abrahamic Religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Father Faltas' narrative not only reveals the beauty of these lands, but also helps to understand their challenges and complexities, leading the reader to reflect on the daily reality of the people who live there.

Special Recognition

During the event, the Council of the Order of Journalists of Tuscany presented Father Faltas with an honorary publicist journalist's card, a choice born out of his commitment to reporting, narrating and explaining the situation in many Middle Eastern countries. Those wishing to purchase a copy of "Pilgrim of Peace" can do so by sending an e-mail to comunicazione@fondazionegiovannipaolo.org.

We invite you to watch Father Faltas' interview on TGR Toscana to further explore the issues discussed in the book.
