The John Paul II Foundation, deeply alarmed by the news and images of extraordinary violence coming from Palestine and Israel, condemns every act that sees the annihilation of human life as the answer to its own motives. The escalation of violence, revenge and hatred against men and women, the elderly and children is of grave concern to us. Further apprehension is due to the presence of numerous cooperators and colleagues on the ground, the children and staff of the Effetà Institute in Bethlehem and all the beneficiaries of our projects. The public has been bewildered by the rapid changes in national and European policy on the reception of migrants. From the supervised arrivals following the agreements for the European operation Sophia, to the stricter and more rational regime of the Gentiloni government, inspired by Interior Minister Marco Minniti, to the almost total closure of ports by the yellow-green government, by initiatives of Matteo Salvini, to the current situation of uncontrolled arrivals. The trouble is that there is no homogeneous European legislation to regulate the issue of immigration, although, in the past two years, at the urging of Mediterranean countries, Europe has been struggling to create a system of reception and integration that responds to the principles of international law and those of the Treaties. Una situazione economica e sanitaria che ha condotto l’intero Paese ad una crisi assai profonda dalla quale è difficile rialzarsi e che solo gli aiuti provenienti dall’estero possono alleviare. La Fondazione, a tal proposito, sta dedicando dei fondi destinati all’acquisto di farmaci e medicinali per fornire un supporto costante al Paese dei Cedri. Il progetto prevede l’invio dall’Italia (Pisa) di medicinali salva vita fondamentali per consentire alle persone più deboli di essere curate e continuare a rispettare le proprie terapie. [vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]Descrizione e obiettivi del progetto: tra le attività in Palestina, la Fondazione da anni sostiene la casa Hogar Nino de Dios. La struttura è nata all’inizio della seconda Intifada ad opera della Famiglia Religiosa del Verbo Incarnato, dopo aver toccato con mano l’urgenza di una casa che accogliesse bambini malati, disabili, abbandonati e poveri. La necessità di tale struttura è determinata dalle cattive condizioni economiche e dalla cultura locale, che considera un disonore per la famiglia la nascita di figli con handicap o con problemi fisici o psicologici. La Fondazione ha per anni sostenuto, attraverso la generosità di cittadini privati, le attività di accoglienza dei minori disabili. Con il passare degli anni i bambini sono cresciuti ed è stata riscontrata la necessità di prolungare il supporto a persone estremamente vulnerabili.
